Mass-Communication  (Doesn't Deserve Bad Reputation)

At my university the science faculties have superiority and as a  Mass-communication student I have battled with the stigma attached to media and communication degrees. Media studies is often seen as a "Easy and Useless" subject and a media student is consider to be the couch potato in their eyes. But I think few people actually understand what Mass-com studies means, or what it's like to study at uni.

Mass-communication isn't about watching films and reading newspaper, it's about actively engaging with media practice, theory and production.Just like science and other professional fields, It's about working within the field  and requires skills like good writing and critical thinking. The media is a powerful tool which plays a significant role within society. It gives the people a voice and I think that's incredibly powerful.

Late night editing, 14 hours of lectures a week and endless study tasks and assignments - not the workload typically associated with us.But this is the reality of today's mass-com and media student. According to a U.K survey report, people with a degree in media have the second highest degree employment rate. So how come the subject is still so ridiculed?
